Missy's Story

Hi, I'm Missy, a sweet 9-year-old tortie looking for a soft place to land.

I came to the shelter after my owner sadly passed away, and all this change has been a little overwhelming for me. I'm definitely one of the shyer girls, and when things feel unfamiliar, I'm happiest tucked into a cozy bed or hidey hole where I can watch the world from somewhere that feels safe.
But being shy doesn't mean I don't enjoy a little love! I'll happily accept gentle pets from the comfort of my safe space, and I'm a very sweet girl once you take the time to meet me where I'm comfortable. And just like a few of my fellow residents, I suddenly become a little braver when I hear the magical sound of wet food being served.

I do have a little medical history my future family should know about. I previously had diabetes, which was believed to be stress-induced. The good news is that I have since been cleared by the shelter veterinarian and do not currently require treatment for diabetes! My future family will simply need to continue monitoring me with their veterinarian in case anything changes.

I'm also having some dental work done while I'm here, so I'll be heading into my next chapter with my teeth getting some much-needed attention too!

At 9 years old, I'm not looking for a life full of chaos. I'd much rather have a peaceful home with soft beds, cozy hiding places, yummy food, and a patient person who will let me come out of my shell at my own pace.
