Miss May W.'s Story

Miss May is a young-- perhaps approx 12 to 13 month old-- white with gray tabby markings. The tabby markings are like a cape across her back.

May was rescued from a residential area in Russell County, we think she was dumped in the spring as a kitten and was fed by neighbors, who then realized in summer that she was pregnant. A representative from the neighborhood reached out to the Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society for help as none of them was prepared to take her inside.

SPCHS accepted her into our program in June when she was extremely pregnant and it was the heat of summer and we knew she shouldn't/couldn't survive delivering outdoor.

May delivered 12 kittens (unheard of by us and all our partner vets!) Two were stillborn but the other 10 survived. May was a fantastic mother and along with her dedicated human foster Mom they diligently raised all ten kittens. None suffered an illnesses and all managed to get adequate nutrition with the bottle feeding and Mama May feeding. The kittens were born July 6th.

The kittens are now weened, so Miss May is now spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLeuk, vaccinated, and micro-chipped and ready for her own home.

Per her foster mom, Miss May is one of the sweetest natured cats she has ever fostered -- all Miss May wants is to be with you and CUDDLE in your lap.

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do: 1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two) 2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy. 3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following: * All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. * If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines. 4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use. 5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us. 6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption. If this is not acceptable, please do not apply.
