Meet Miso<br/><br/>Miso is a 4-month-old black-and-white kitten with an adorable face and a very sweet, gentle soul. He may not be the bold, outgoing kitten who runs up to greet every person he meets, but we think Miso has all the makings of an incredible companion for someone willing to give him a little time.<br/><br/>Miso came to us as part of a trapping project involving several cats who were displaced after their owner put their home up for sale and abandoned most of the cats outside. Sadly, Miso was only a few months old when his entire world was disrupted. Being outside during such an important period of his development meant he missed out on some of the socialization and positive human interaction that kittens need to become confident around people.<br/><br/>As a result, Miso is very shy and tends to flee when people approach him. But please don't mistake his fear for aggression. Miso is not aggressive at all. He simply isn't sure about people yet, and when he's unsure, his first instinct is to run and hide.<br/><br/>We truly believe Miso is a diamond in the rough. With patience, consistency, love, and the right environment, we expect him to blossom into a wonderful companion. He just needs someone who understands that trust isn't always instant and is willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace.<br/><br/>Miso would do especially well in a home with another friendly kitten or young, confident cat. Having a feline friend can help him feel more secure and give him a little guidance as he learns that people can be trusted. Watching another cat confidently interact with their humans may be exactly what Miso needs to show him the ropes.<br/><br/>Miso is looking for a patient adopter who will celebrate the small victories: the first time he stays in the room instead of running away, the first time he accepts a treat from your hand, the first head bump, and eventually, the first time he chooses to come to you.<br/><br/>If you're looking for an instant lap kitten, Miso probably isn't your guy just yet.
