Mira's Story
Meet Mira!

Mira is the lone girl in a room full of boys, and she has clearly decided that means holding her own, not backing down. She chases, she wrestles, she gives as good as she gets, and she's never once been intimidated by being outnumbered by Pippin, Silas, and Little Bean.

Underneath the toughness, Mira is just so sweet, exceptionally so. When she wants affection, she comes and gets it. She'll climb up onto something tall, put her front paws on a shoulder, and nestle right into your face and neck. Sometimes she skips the paws entirely and just hops all the way up onto a shoulder, perched there, batting at loose hair if it's up. She adores affection, seeks it out, and melts into it the second she gets it. Give her a hammock or a lap and she is instantly, completely at peace, curled up like she was born there. Squeeze ups are a favorite too, and being held will settle her right down, soft and content in someone's arms. She's on the chill side overall, but she loves to play just as much, chasing and wrestling right alongside her brothers when the mood strikes.

New faces and new spaces can bring out a stressy side of her at first. When she met one of her foster mom's resident cats for the first time, she made her opinion known immediately, hissing and growling like she wanted him to know exactly where things stood. But give her a little time and she settles right in.

Mira has been a joy to foster. She's the kind of cat who makes the hard parts of rescue work feel worth it. She'd do best going home as a pair with Silas, but she could also thrive adopted alongside Pippin or Little Bean.

If there's a resident cat already in the home, know that Mira may take some time to warm up, she gets there, just on her own schedule. She hasn't been tested with kids yet but would likely do well with them (slow, respectful introductions), and could be a good fit for a calm dog too, with slow, proper introductions.

Mira is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens.

When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.
