Miles's Story
Miles is 9 years old and resides in our Big Cattery. He loves other cats, with a capital L-O-V-E! He is very popular among other felines, and we usually see him tucked in bed with a roommate or pawing a plush mouse back and forth with one of his buddies. With other kitties, he is a social butterfly.

Where Miles grew up, he did not have kind humans to interact with. He has become so brave while being in our care, and he currently feels safe enough to fall asleep in our presence. That is a huge milestone for him. He is no longer tense or cowering in fear. We have petted Miles on occasion, and we always remind him how he is such a good boy.

He enjoys the outdoor catio the most; our volunteers find him basking in the sun every day. He lies out, entirely relaxed, and keeps his belly pointed to the sky. The warmth gives Miles a sense of calm and zen like no other. His gray and white fur truly shines, along with his personality.

We know Miles has so much potential, and he will blossom with the right person. His ideal home would have other cats, and perhaps a few dozen toys!

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a cat.

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. This includes FIV/FeLV testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
