Mia - gentle & loving's Story
Mia is a lovely little tuxedo girl who is just 6 lbs. She is extremely gentle and loving. Mia is 3 years old and has had a stressful entry into rescue. She originally lived with a young couple with a kitty friend and was very happy there. Unfortunately, her family had to move and their new place did not allow cats. So they left Mia and her kitty friend with a person who said that he would take care of them. Her owners found out when they went to visit her, that Mia was not being well-cared for. She had lost a dramatic amount of weight and they could tell that she was not feeling good. They could not afford to take her to the vet, so they tried to take her to the Madison PetSmart to ask if a rescue could take her, but she got scared and got loose in the parking lot. Her owners searched for an hour, but could not locate her.

Several hours later, a kind PetSmart employee found Mia hiding under a car in the parking lot. She was terrified and dehydrated, but glad to be safe. Once she drank plenty of water, she calmed down considerably. Mia's foster mom picked her up from the store and got her to our vet. She had already been spayed and microchipped. Mia was very anemic, not eating much and only able to pee a drop at a time. After bloodwork, urinalysis and an abdominal x-ray, our vet thinks that Mia must have developed a UTI due to stress, and it went untreated for so long that her tiny bladder became very inflamed and swollen. She was put on an antibiotic for the UTI and medications to reduce pain and inflammation. Mia eventually began to feel better. She is now eating more normally, more active and able to pee in normal amounts.

Mia is now ready for adoption and will be heading to the Madison PetSmart soon. She is healthy now, except for a heart murmur, and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $125.
