Megan's Story
"I am a rather "typical" black&tan tabby with a white nose, neck, belly and paws.
My pre-rescue history tells the "common tale" of being rescued/trapped (with my feral mom) from one of the hundreds of cat colonies in Fresno.
Full transparency, my feral mom taught me at an early age, the best survival skills involve a lot of caution. - Trust is not a quality I grant to humans lightly; you should be prepared to earn it from me.
My siblings were more willing to let the humans in; especially after our mom was returned to the colony. But I am not so easily fooled, possessing a more discerning nature.
So pardon my bluntness but I am not looking for your "typical or ordinary" human. You will need to be kind, patient and experienced in the mysterious workings of a cat's mind. I'll do best in a calm home where nobody rushes me.
I realize the demands I am asking of an adopter are audacious, so here is a secret: one of my most endearing enigmatic quirks is that I have an inappropriate Purr.
I purr too quickly, a little too easily, I can't help it.
(I even purr when having to take a bath! Funny story, ask my foster mum.)
Snuggling with you for a nap is still difficult for me - cats only sleep zonked out, "dead to the world" belly exposed, when they trust their home & their humans. So a cozy bed in a box is where I like to retreat for my most restful sleep while I am getting used to you.
My easily triggered purr machine is neither "typical or ordinary" for a kitty with my background, but it is a hint of the hurdles I can overcome, in order to be someone's forever snuggle buddy!
