Maya & James's Story

Maya is our sweet smudge-nosed girl with the brightest green eyes. She is about 7 months old and adores people. As soon as her cage opens, she is ready to walk onto your chest for a hug. She is affectionate to all visitors. Maya purrs a calm tune and is a source of comfort for her shy brother, James.

Maya shares a cage with her brother, and they play together like two peas in a pod. She goes crazy for ping pong balls, and their little tails wag away as they pounce on them. They sleep intertwined and snuggle with one another.

Her littermate, James, is very bonded to her. He is in need of some guidance on how to become braver and overcome his anxieties with people. Maya is his rock, and they are to be adopted together as a pair. These black and white babies look forward to finding their new family.

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a cat.

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. This includes FIV/FeLV testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
