May's Story

Hi, my name is May. I am estimated to be about 4 years old. I came to the shelter 11/4/25 as part of a cruelty case. I was confined to a cat carrier for as long as I can remember. I had no litter box, no bed, no blanket, nothing. Just food and sometimes water. The first couple months I was shut down and very scared. I'm finally realizing not all people are scary, and I actually love getting attention. I'm still a little weary of people but Ive been getting much better with my confidence. Ive never been in a home before so it will definitely take me a while to adjust to not only a home but having a family as well. I'm excited to start my journey to finding a family and I'll be crossing my toes in hopes you'll come take me home

Montgomery County SPCA's Adoption Policy
At the Montgomery County SPCA, we are dedicated to finding responsible, forever homes for all the pets in our care. To that end, we have created a thorough adoption process which helps us achieve this goal. This process includes a check of veterinary history records on any pets you currently have, and a home visit. If you rent your home, we require written proof (letter or lease) from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. We undertake this kind of thorough review to ensure that animals who have already been discarded at least once will never have to experience this again.
