Mavis's Story
Meet Mavis!

At 8 years old, Mavis has officially retired from her outdoor-cat career and is ready to embrace the good life—and honestly, she's earned it.

These days, Mavis is all about the simple luxuries: a warm lap, a soft blanket, a sunny perch, and settling in beside you for a good TV binge. She's wonderfully easygoing and perfectly content to do her own thing, but she absolutely treasures her dedicated snuggle time. In Mavis' opinion, it's an essential part of the daily routine—and she thinks it should be part of yours, too.

Mavis comes with a signature raspy little meow that gives her plenty of personality. Think charmingly gravelly, not glamorous opera singer. And when wet food is on the menu? Mavis means business. She also thoroughly enjoys being brushed and firmly believes regular spa days are an important part of maintaining her beauty.

Her ideal home is quiet, calm, and cozy. She'd love big windows where she can safely watch the world go by, a cat tree for important perching duties, and plenty of soft blankets for maximum comfort.

Mavis may need a little time to settle into a new environment, but once she decides you're her kind of person—someone who appreciates snuggles, cozy evenings, and a good TV show—she'll reward you with the kind of loyal companionship that makes having a cat so special.

She would do best in a home without children or dogs. She may be comfortable with a very chill, respectful cat who understands personal space, but she's perfectly happy keeping things peaceful and low-key.

If you're looking for an easygoing, affectionate companion who has officially traded outdoor adventures for laps, blankets, and the good life, Mavis may be your girl.

Mavis is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.
