Maus's Story
Meet Maus: A Very Special Senior Gentleman

**Available for adoption or hospice foster, Maus has severe heart disease [Adoption fee waived]*

This handsome senior boy has had quite a journey, but he’s ready for a forever home where he can finally relax and be loved the way he deserves.

Maus is a sweet, smart, and affectionate senior cat with a big heart and a gentle soul. He’s considered a “special needs” kitty only because he takes a daily pill for hyperthyroidism—but don’t worry, he takes it easily hidden in his food with no fuss at all.

His story is a tough one: when his family moved away, he was left behind. Scared and alone, he was mistaken for a feral cat and even ear-tipped before anyone realized he was actually a friendly boy—just frightened. After passing through a few hands, he finally landed in a patient foster home where his true personality began to shine.

Once he feels safe, Maus is incredibly loving, people-oriented, and very food-motivated. He enjoys spending time with his person, following them around the house, or curling up nearby while they work. He’d be the perfect companion for someone who works from home—loyal company without being demanding.

He also enjoys window-watching, playing with toys, and exploring his space at his own pace.

Maus prefers to be the only cat in the household—he’s not a fan of other cats in his personal space—but he has met a calm dog and was perfectly content to ignore her.

After all he’s been through, this sweet senior just wants a quiet, loving home where he can spend his golden years being cherished.

To learn more about this kitty, please email adopt@catsrusrescue.org or submit an adoption application online at https://catsrusrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application

All of our cats and kittens are rescues. They are mixed breed unless otherwise noted. If a cat or kitten is designated as a particular breed we do not have papers to verify the breed information. We assign breeds to our cats and kittens based on similar appearance, size, and temperament as described in the breed description of a purebred cat.

Our adoption fee is $120.00 for kittens under 1 year (2 for $200), $100 for cats over 1 year (2 for $180), and $150 - $250 for exotic breed cats or kittens. We do not have our own spay/neuter clinic so the adoption fee we charge helps our rescue pay for a portion of vet fees incurred to prepare a cat or kitten for adoption. The adoption fee includes a wellness exam, spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, FeLV and FIV testing (negative/negative unless otherwise noted), treatment for parasites (fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, ear mites), and microchipping.
