Mason's Story

INTRODUCING...MASON!!!

Mason is a 1-2 yr old blue lynx point himalayan boy. He is fully vetted (neutered, fiv/felv negative, microchipped, vaccinated, etc) and is ready for his forever home.

When Mason came to us he had a corneal sequestrum (basically dead skin cells adhere to the cornea & start "burrowing" into the eye) & needed eye surgery; his owner was not able to afford treatment.

The sequestrum had almost perforated Mason's eye. Once the dead cells were scraped off, Dr R had to "bandage" the wound with tissue from inside of Mason's eyelid (corneal graft). The "bandage" was left in place for a month. Then the graft was clipped off - leaving behind that hunk of flesh looking thing on Mason's eye. The spot left behind *will* continue to smooth out & become more opaque. In six to nine months you most likely won't even be able to tell that anything was done!

So three surgical procedures later & Mason is now ready for adoption!!!

This cat is AWESOME!! He cuddles in bed. Licks my head when I wake up. Occasionally curls up with me on the couch. He is great with the dogs. He adores the other cats (he ABSOLUTELY needs another young kitty friend!! This is a non-negotiable.) He's great with eye cleaning & daily combing.

Mason's only "fault"? He has panic attacks when confined to a carrier. So he must be a San Antonio-Austin adoption; no longer distances.

Adoption fee - $650.

If you are interested in adopting Mason, please submit an adoption application through our website at www.stxpr.org. If you have already applied, please forward your application to us at stxpersianrescue@gmail.com and express interest.

NOTE: We do not ship or transport our cats. All adopters must travel to San Antonio, to the foster home, to pick up their cat(s) in person.
