Mary Bee's Story

Mary Bee is a very confident, super friendly, social, and playful young cat! While she had a rocky start to her life, she has finally been given a clean bill of health and she is ready to find her furever home!

Mary was originally born on-site (on the founder's living room couch) with four other siblings. She was raised around other rescued cats as well as some of the residents. As a result, she loves interacting with other animals. She has no fear when it comes to dogs and co-exists peacefully with the two cat-savvy dogs living at the home-based facility. In fact, Mary LOVES the smaller dog and goes out of her way to run over to greet him and rub all over his body.

Miss Beebee is currently up-to-date on her vaccines, she is spayed, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. Mary has also been dewormed and is current on flea preventative.

Early in December of 2025, Mary had a sizeable polyp surgically removed from her throat, which had been a large contributor to her being unwell. After months of different medications, a variety of tests, and with Mary still exhibiting upper respiratory infection symptoms, our vet performed a thorough examination under anesthesia, which led to the discovery of the polyp that was obstructing her airway and ability to easily consume food. Once the polyp was removed, Mary was immediately a new cat! She is now full of energy and constantly wanting to play and explore. Due to the rough start, Mary's physical development was stunted, and only now is she finally putting on appropriate weight. It is unclear whether she will ever be a more normal-sized cat, but at least she is growing and now weighs more than the 3 lbs. she had for months.

Due to her smaller size and fragility, Mary would do best in a home with older children that understand it's important to be gentle. While Mary is a huge fan of dogs, it would also be in her best interest to only live with dogs that are respectful and gentle in their play when it comes to other animals.

Given her extremely social nature, Mary Bee NEEDS to live with at least one other cat if not multiple cats in addition to a dog or two. Currently, Mary shares a room with an older male companion, a 7-year-old cat named Atticus (Addie). The two have definitely bonded and they are often observed either snuggling together on the pet bed by the window or playing together. Addie grew up with a female cat companion, and it has done a world of wonder for his confidence and happiness to be paired with Mary.

While we are not requiring Mary and Addie to be adopted together, we would be overjoyed for the both of them to find a home to share. Applicants interested in adopting the pair will also be given priority. Addie originally lived with a larger female dog all his life and would even play with her, so he would likely do fine living with another cat-savvy and respectful dog. Atticus has also shared space with other cats, both male and female, while living at the rescue, but it would seem he prefers female kitties. However, unlike Mary, Atticus would struggle to thrive in a home with children due to his more timid nature.

Mary Bee is still eating kitten food only to help her growth, and she receives both wet and dry food daily. All cats at the rescue also use an alternative cat litter via pine pellet bedding, and this is what she is familiar with using. She is fully litter box trained and does not have accidents.

Like most kittens, Mary is a huge fan of toys. Some of her favorites include catnip toys, coils, scratching structures with items dangling from them or attached to a spring, tunnels, interactive toys, and cat dancers. Mary also loves towers and climbing structures in general. She is excellent about using scratching posts and pads. Miss Beebee also loves a super puffy pet bed, and she is commonly found in her favorite pillow-like bed during nap time if she is not snuggling with Addie.
