Mary's Story

Hi, my name is Mary! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Skittish, loving, slow to adjust, muffin monster
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, may be OK with very slow introductions
-Can Live with Dogs: Unknown history, unlikely to do well with dogs. Up to counselor discretion
-Can Live with Kids: Would do best in adult only home, though some older teens may be OK. Up to counselor discretion.
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Not required but always recommended.
-History of Litter Box Issues: No
-Energy Level: Medium
-Bite History: No
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes,a spay and microchip

Mary is a sweet little barn kitty who's ready to retire to a life indoors! She gets really scared in new environments and tends to shut down for a while when in new situations. Given enough time and space to decompress, she becomes the sweetest little love bug out there! She purrs so loud and makes endless muffins. She would do best in a quiet and predictable environment, with adopters who will take things at HER pace. In time, she is sure to show even more personality than we've seen here!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
