Marvin and Aretha's Story

Life has been a series of ups and downs for this beautiful pair.

Marvin and Aretha started life in a backyard with 3 littermates. Fortunately some kind people brought them and their mom inside. They were quickly scooped up by an adopter but the family’s busy home life and resident dog did not agree with their quiet nature, so they returned to their first foster home.

When they're in foster homes without dogs, they are model housemates. Aretha is more curious than her brother, and is the first to explore new situations. Marvin quickly follows her lead, but then he likes to take over and get your attention.

Marvin is a champion lap kitty, and he enjoys spending time sitting with you. Sometimes he's so eager that he can't wait for you to be settled before he climbs into your lap to enjoy head scratches and pets.

Aretha takes time to warm up to people, but she loves affection. She wants to be near you on the sofa, but is a bit shy. Initially, she may sit a few feet away, and wait for you to approach and pet her. Over time, she plops down next to you, shows you her belly for some gentle pets, and, at times, tries to share lap space with Marvin.

Both kitties enjoy playing with toys – especially feather wands. Marvin and Aretha have been the only constant in each other’s lives so they must be adopted together.

Both are altered, FIV/FeLV negative, up-to-date on shots, and microchipped.

The Lucky Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
We have a multi-step adoption process. While we try to process our adoptions as quickly as possible, our cats are very important to us, so we do our best to ensure they go to homes that will be the best possible fit for them. * Adoption application: we have a 1 page application, requesting landlord pet policy verification (if renting), personal references, and a veterinarian reference (if you currently have other pets) * Meet and greet: we ask that all members of the household meet the cat in person before adoption. This makes sure the cat is a good fit for everyone. * Home delivery: we will deliver the cat to you, and will help you get the cat settled in its new home! This also serves as a low-key "home check," so please be prepared to allow us inside the home. That will also make it more comfortable for all of us as we finish up the paperwork and walk you through your new cat's vet records! * Return policy: we will take any of our cats back at any time and for any reason. As part of our adoption contract, if you are ever no longer able to keep the cat, we expect the cat to be returned to us (please do not try to re-home them yourself). Due to our home deliveries and return policies, with rare exceptions we do not adopt to homes outside of New Jersey. Thank you for understanding.
