Marie's Story
My name is Marie, and I’m still waiting for the world to feel familiar again. I’m a 5-year-old black and white Domestic Shorthair, weighing about 7 pounds. I came to the shelter on October 21, 2025, along with four of my feline friends after our owner passed away. We lost not only our person, but our home, and the quiet comfort that came with it. Here at the shelter, everything feels so different. I’m a gentle, timid girl who’s still trying to make sense of this new life. The staff say I’m very sweet, just shy, and that with time, patience, and kindness, I’ll begin to show my true self again. I’m spayed, litterbox trained, and I get along well with other cats. There are no geographical adoption restrictions, so anyone can come meet me. I just need someone who sees beyond my timidness and understands that love, once lost, takes a little time to trust again. Please come visit me and give me the second chance I’ve been quietly hoping for, a warm home, a gentle voice, and the feeling of being loved again. Location: Stafford County Animal Shelter 26 Frosty Lane, Stafford, VA 22554 Hours:Monday–Friday: 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and Holidays
