Margaret's Story

PLEASE NOTE: You must complete an ADOPTION APPLICATION in order to receive a response. https://www.homeatlastrescue.ca/adoption-form/, or click on the "MORE ABOUT HOME AT LAST RESCUE" button in the bottom right for a direct link.

Are you looking for a cat with absolutely no concept of personal space? Meet Margaret! Margaret is 18 years old, but don't tell her that - she's far too busy climbing into laps, chasing toys, demanding cuddles, and making friends with every human she meets. Margaret is the definition of a velcro cat. Margaret has never met a lap she didn't like. In fact, if you happen to sit down for more than 30 seconds, she'll assume you've done so specifically for her. Visitors? Perfect - new laps! She'll happily greet strangers with head bumps, face rubs, and endless affection. Margaret's favourite hobbies include being carried around like royalty, curling up beside (or preferably on) her people, soaking up sunny windowsills, and supervising the neighbourhood from the comfort of a window. For a senior, Margaret has an impressive amount of pep in her step. She has a wonderful appetite, loves chasing treats, laser dots, wand toys, and anything she can bat across the floor. Once she's conquered her prey, she'll proudly bring it over to you while loudly announcing her success, just in case you somehow missed this incredible accomplishment. When she's especially happy, you'll be rewarded with a rumbling purr and a few gentle biscuits as she settles in for another cuddle session. Margaret is incredibly healthy for her age and takes her daily routine like a champ. She'll likely need thyroid medication for life, which she happily eats in her food, and also gets a daily glucosamine supplement to keep her joints comfortable. Margaret keeps herself well groomed, loves drinking fresh water from her fountain, and aside from the occasional hairball or an adorable little snort or sniffle that doesn't bother her, she's doing wonderfully. We don't know if Margaret is good with other cats, but we know she will make a great addition to a senior or retired home.

Margaret came to us from animal services, where she came in as a stray. When she was rescued, she was heartbreakingly thin - you could feel every bone beneath her skin. Her coat was painfully matted, her nails were badly overgrown, and she was anemic. Thanks to lots of love and care in her foster home, she's made an incredible recovery and is ready for her forever home at last.

If you've always wanted a best friend who greets everyone like an old friend, believes every lap belongs to her, and has enough love to make up for 18 years of waiting, Margaret is ready to spend her golden years exactly where she belongs: spoiled rotten, adored endlessly, and snuggled up right beside you.
