Maressa's Story

Maressa, 6, was born outside and lived that way her whole life. First trapped three years ago alongside her kittens, spayed, and returned outdoors because she simply wasn't ready for people. But this winter, she started showing up differently. Closer. Curious. Ready. So she was brought in, and within hours, she was making biscuits and purring.

A spirit cat is exactly what she is — the kind of cat you don't always see, but always feel. She'll do her own thing, move quietly through the house on her own terms. But find her in her safe spots, and a whole other side comes out. She'll fall over for belly rubs, soak up kisses, and give headbutts like she means them. She adores other cats and would love a feline friend, though it's not a requirement.

After a couple of months of fostering, her foster mom is now able to hold her and cover her in kisses. It took time — and it was worth every second. Her adopter just needs to be someone who understands that the best things unfold slowly, and that earning Maressa's trust is one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do.
