Maple's Story

Meet Maple 11 Months Old Orange Female

Maple is a small, all-orange girl who is about 10 months old. She came to us from a cat colony in Detroit where she was living in truly horrible conditions. When she first came into rescue, Maple was understandably scared and unsure of people. But she has come such a long way since then.

Maple is opening up more and more every day. She is learning that people can be kind, that she is safe, and that she can actually enjoy being around her humans. She now likes being pet and has become much more comfortable spending time with people. We are seeing more of her sweet personality emerge as her confidence grows.

Maple has also started hanging out and playing with her foster sister cat, which has been wonderful to see. She seems to really enjoy having another cat around and may do best in a home with a friendly, cat-social feline companion.

Maple is still a little shy and will likely need some patience as she continues adjusting to her new life, but she is no longer the same scared kitty who first arrived. She is showing us that once she feels safe, she really does want to connect with her people.

Her history with dogs is unknown, and we believe she would likely be happiest in a calm home without them. Because she is still building confidence, we also feel she would do best with older children who can respect her space and give her the time she needs.
Maple's foster has given her a safe place to grow, but unfortunately, her foster is moving at the end of October. Maple needs to find her next home soon.

Maple isn’t looking for a busy or chaotic home. She’s looking for someone who will continue to be patient with her, earn her trust, and give her the chance to keep blossoming into the confident little kitty she was always meant to be.

Maple is proof that with a little patience, even the most scared cats can learn what it means to feel safe. And we can't wait to see just how much more of herself she has left to show.
