Maisy ***Special Needs: hyperthyroid. Bonded with Cloey***'s Story

Maisy: playful, friendly, and purry 14 yr old who loves her big sis

Maisy's story: I was adopted by my family from MSPCA in Methuen. My sister was an only child for about 4 or 5 years before I came along. It took some time to get to know her, but now we are inseparable for 12 years now.

My person, my kid human, moved out, so the family decided to find another home for us. Luckily, I got to stay with my sister, Maisy.

I was known to sleep back to back with my sister at the old place. In the new space, same. We have these pet beds and cat pillows and fluffy things everywhere, so we rotate it out. We are always in close proximity to each other.

My sister and I both would play with wand toys at the old place, and on occasion play with mouse toys and balls, but at the new place, I am the wild and crazy one with the toys. My favorite past time at the new place is also sleeping.

My sister is the in your face type. Me, nah. I respect personal space. You can come to me when you are ready for my attention. If you do not, I will call to you so you are reminded to come to me. I am a complete purrbaby, which shows you how adorable I am. I am just not pushy like Cloey.

I am a 14 yr old gorgeous calico, and a vision if I do say so myself! I am a laid back cuddler (once I get to know you, of course). I used to enjoy laying in front of the sliding door with my sister during the day with the sun beating down on me in the winter, spring, and fall, but it is a bit warm to do that in the summer. I also had a cat tower near a window which I would also frequent.

In the new space, there is this table infront of the window with a comfy pillow. I take turns sitting there with my sis. It is comfy.

I am vocal when I am hungry, and used to call to my old family for dinner, like clockwork! My new human knows, and I do meow to her, but she already knows. I used to get 1/3 of a cup in the AM and 1/3 at night. I also used to get some wet food mixed in at night as well on occasion. At the new place, though, they free feed, although I still eat about the same. The bonus is I get wet every night! SCORE!

I used to live with my sister and a Black Lab mix. This lab was one hyper pooch! I would tolerate her, but really could do without her. Maybe a calmer dog would be more my pace. I have only lived with my sister kitty, but other kitties come to visit me on occasion. I am not very happy with them, though. I prefer to be the one and only... well, with Cloey.

So, years ago when I went to the vet, I was diagnosed hyperthyroid. The family chose not to treat, and I lost quite a bit of weight. The vet at the new place put me on this stuff that goes in my ear, and I am on some list to get radiation, which is a one and done thing, so hopefully I will be all better after. I need to get my kidneys tested first, then we will know if I am a candidate for radiation. We will know in a couple months!

My ideal home would be in a home with people who will allow me to live out the rest of my days with my sister, and will hang out with us. Maybe a family with a mellow dog, or us as the only pets. Hyper dogs are not my thing! People are TOTALLY my thing!

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. This ensures that your feline companion is the perfect fit as well as provides support as you both transition into your new life together.

You can fill out an adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1685w60NjfU2eeE55Cd57TAaEZU7bERjyY825EMto48sTQw/viewform

Please reach out to Fitchburg Friends of Felines directly at 978-222-3170 or fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com with questions. Fitchburg Friends of Felines, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are required to have a solid character reference, vet reference, and a site visit which can be conducted virtually. Due to MA regulations, we cannot intake pets from out of state. We offer a foster to adopt program to guarantee the intended kitty is a good fit for your family. We also require that all adopters agree to return the kitty should the adopter no longer be able to care for him or her in the future, or an agreed to person is identified to continue care for this kitty. We are not a brick and mortar; all available cats are kept in foster homes. Therefore, we would need time to schedule a visit to meet a kitty. We are happy to travel to match the perfect kitty for your family. Our adoption fees are normally $250 per cat, $350 for specialty breeds or exotics, and $50 less per kitty if interested in multiples. For specific questions, or for an adoption application, please feel free to reach out to us directly: fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com or call our hotline: 978-222-3170
