Maisie's Story

Maisie is a tiny thing, made mostly of fluff, with tuffs coming out of her ears and toes. But let's face it, she's also a pain in the butt kitty. She cries for you if locked away and while she's fine with dogs, she screams if a cat even looks at her sideways while still insisting she should be allowed anywhere they are.

yes, this former mama cat is looking for a forever home where she can:

- Cuddle and be pet around her head, her favorite spot for relaxation

- Hang out with you and calm down in your presence, she's a pro at chill vibes once she gets her way

- Be close to her favorite people, she absolutely cries when not in your company. We can dress that up a bit and say Maisie would thrive in a home with people who appreciate a loyal companion, but it may be more separation anxiety as once with you she can be independent.

All this makes more sense when you know Maisie's history. It is unfortunately all too common: Previously unspayed, abandoned when owners moved, she was terrorized by neighborhood cats and impregnated. That this tiny cat survived giving birth and nuturing 4 large kittens is amazing. However, her past experiences have also left her with a fear of other cats, and she will scream when they come near or sulk around ready to swat. Thankfully, she's surprisingly calm and accepting around dogs of all sizes, possibly due to her past experience living with a small dog.

Still Maisie would thrive in a quiet home with plenty of love to give. If you're looking for a cat that will be a loyal companion as an only cat in the household, Maisie might be the perfect fit for you. She's a gentle soul who just wants to be loved and adored.

She was returned when he previous adopter had to move back with her parents, and given her feelings about other cats and that their cat hates other cats, everyone knew it would be too stressful for her. She's being fostered with a family with young gentle children, doesn't really want to play or cuddle with them, and will tell them so, but thinks their mom is a dream. So a home with older respectful children or adult only would probably be best.

All of our adoptable animals are cared for and assessed in foster homes (we do not have a shelter), up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV, before they are adopted. They have had de-worming medication as a standard of care and Flea/Tick/Ear Mite preventive treatment. Medical records will be released with the adopted pet.

You can see more pictures and videos of our fosters on our facebook page: Sophia L'Orange Kitten Rescue

Sophia L'Orange Kitten Rescue's Adoption Policy
We require all potential adopters to complete an online form. Once received, we review in entirety. We then contact your vet and verify provided information. We will check references, and we contact your landlord, if you rent. Once we have completed the checks, we schedule a virtual visit interview so that we can get to know you and your family and so that you can visit with the kitty in an environment in which they feel safe to see how they may fit into your home and ask any questions of their foster. If everything checks out and we all agree on which cat the adopter is interested in, we set an adoption date based on the cat's status. On or just before adoption da, we send out our contract and medical records to the adopter. We ask that payment is either via Paypal, check, or cash.
