He road to Waverly in the engine of a pickup truck from a farm in Lime Springs back in December 2025. The pickup owners did not realize he was under there until arriving back in Waverly and then he jumped out and meowed at them. They went outside after he ran off. Later they went back outside because a package was being delivered and asked the rural mail cartier if she wanted a cat and explained what happened, except they did not know where the cat went. The rural carrier started walking back to her vehicle, when Magic jumped out from the engine again onto the pickup tire and frantically meowed at her, like Wait, don't leave me! The carrier knew a blizzard was coming that night so scooped him up and took him home. The pickup owners were grateful for the help since they could not take him in their home or get him back to Lime Springs. Magic is now a Waverly Pet Rescue kitten and living in a forever home. Magic is now up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and neutered. He is living in a WPR foster home with the lady who rescued him off the streets of Waverly.<br/><br/>Magic is about 9-months-old as of February 2026. He is a sweet kitten and very friendly. Magic does loves to be petted and loves to cuddle. You can tell he has never lived in a home before because of his behaviors. He is slowing (sort of) learning how to live in a home lol. He jumps on your lap with no warning so be careful if you are munching on chips or something. He likes to chew on your hair. He does get into everything so no leaving anything out on the counter. He will jump up onto your bed and your head when you are sleeping. He is cute because he will follow you everywhere and always wants to be where you are. He loves to play so lots of toys would be great. He enjoys the cat tree so would love on of those in his new home. Magic spent a month in a room alone and then after being neutered, came out to meet the other foster cats. He does well with other cats most the time. At feeding time, he has a low growl and bats his claw at any cat near him. Hopefully in time he realizes he does not ever have to fight for his food ever again and that stops. So far, no fights because all the other cats look puzzled as to why he is growling at them, and no one has swiped back at him when he swipes at them. Also, be very careful because when a door opens, he is fast and will run out. Luckily here it only goes to the garage, so he does not get far. So now before going out, we make sure he is not near and if he is, we hiss at him and stomp our feet. He needs to learn that outside is dangerous. He has not tried to run out now for over a week, so he does seem to be learning. He has not been around dogs. Probably a home with older kind children would be best, ones that will watch the door and not accidently let him get out. He needs to be adopted into a home with another young cat. He will thrive with a cat or kitten friend. He cannot be the only cat in the home. He loves to play with the other young cat in the home. <br/><br/>His adoption fee is $95.00.<br/><br/><br/>WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.<br/>Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
