Lyonne & Marsay **KITTENS**'s Story
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html

Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com

Lyonne and Marsay are sisters and were strays in Waverly, Iowa. A cat loving couple is helping stray cats in their neighborhood by taking them in and getting them ready to be adopted. They will continue fostering them until they get adopted. Lyonne and Marsay are both up to date on shots, tested FeLV/FIV negative, and spayed.

Lyonne and Marsay were born May 16-17, 2025 so are now about 7-months-old as of Jan. 2026. Lyonne and Marsay are sisters and a bonded pair and must be adopted together and into the same home. If separated, Lyonne hides and then hisses at everybody once reunited. Marsay cries when they’re separated. A lot. Both currently live with their mama cat (not up for adoption) and will miss her, but they seem most bonded to one another.

Lyonne is shy at first and can be anxious, but is generally impulsive and affectionate. She loves to chase her mama and sister and play with crinkle balls, foam soccer balls, bell balls, and soft Catstages/Yeowww! toys that can be sprayed with catnip oil. Raised in a home office/bedroom, she is a computer expert and would love to supervise all office work. She’s the smaller of the two sisters and still tends to do kitten things-ambush leg-claw hugs and toe bites, though she’s working on minimizing claw use and will cheerfully switch to chewing your sock

Lyonne’s impulsiveness means she might rush doors as they open and close and she might jump into things (like dark closet shelves), she wishes she hadn’t. Being raised in an office/bedroom, she’ll also need some patient training to understand how kitchens and bathrooms work.

Marsay is shy at first and can be anxious, but she’s more confident and generally more dominant than her sister. She’s more people friendly than other animal friendly (except with her mama and Lyonne). Around other critters, she’s more reserved. She loves to chase her sister and play with crinkle balls, foam soccer balls, bell balls, and soft Catstages/Yeowww! toys that can be sprayed with catnip oil. Where Lyonne likes to be in charge of computer work, Marsay likes to stake out the best snuggly blankets and watch the world from the windows. She’s matured a little more than Lyonne in her people interactions and seldom uses claws or teeth anymore. Marsay is a big fan of sleep snuggles and loves to tuck her foster Mom into bed with toys and then wake her up by dropping them on her face.

Marsay is less impulsive than Lyonne, but she might still rush doors as they open and close and she might jump into things (like dark closet shelves), she wishes she hadn’t. Being raised in an office/bedroom, she’ll also need some patient training to understand how kitchens and bathrooms work. In addition, Marsay LOVES to play with the water dishes. A tray underneath keeps most of the water where it belongs.”

Comically, as they have been raised in an office, they assume all television is a Zoom call or online class session, during which they will give and receive kisses and other adoration from the people on the other end. So, please avoid loud violent tv, at least until she starts to understand it’s not real. Please do enjoy sitcoms, cartoons, and dump-and-stir cooking shows where you can hold them up to kiss the host.

Important! Medical Issue for their Mama: Their mama cat had a severe opioid reaction during her spay surgery (she’s okay now but it was scary). As it’s possible Marsay and Lyonne inherited that reactivity, her vet needs to know they can’t have opioids. Marsay and Lyonne's own opioid-free spay surgeries went great!

They are good in a home with other cats (maybe an easygoing adult cat), possibly a gentle dog who’s good with cats, adults, kind teenagers. They need a home with no small children or aggressive animals of any kind.

Adoption fee: $95.00 each, so $190 for both kittens.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
