Luke & Leia's Story

Meet the Purrfect Pair ???
Available for Adoption through FUR Animal Rescue!
RESCUE DATE: July 28, 2025

Meet Luke and Leia, the absolute purrfect pair!
These adorable twins are available for adoption after facing a really tough go! We don't know their full story, so we can only speculate. But after gathering information - what we assume happened was that these two did have a home together. Although they were brought in as strays, it's not uncommon for people to be untruthful. We believe they had a home and after we rescued them, we learned they were full of coccidia, a very nasty intestinal parasite that wreaks havoc on the intestinal tract and causes insane diarrhea. One can only assume that whomever owned these cats could not care for them or provide them vet care for the diarrhea, so chose to surrender them to the shelter as strays. They're very clearly not strays and have been together their entire life. They're extremely bonded and do not like to go anywhere without the other. They're essentially inseparable.

As it goes, after being taken to a shelter, a shelter can never guarantee that bonded duos will stay together. We knew that these two absolutely, positively did need to stay together and they also needed our help medically as well! We pulled them for rescue and started the journey of healing their gastrointestinal tract through medication, food, and good old-fashioned TLC. It has taken some time, but they have transformed from extremely sick kitties into vibrant and thriving adolescents! They have truly blossened and will bond deeply to their home.

Without trying to sound like a lecture, it is so important if you commit to an animal that you can provide them veterinary care. Coccidia is a horrible parasite that is transmissible to other animals and can even be deadly if left untreated. It leaves the animal extremely sick, and it's so important that we make sure we are able to care for these animals that we take in. If you can't care for them, then yes, finding an alternative route is the best thing to do. But knowing that you can provide for them before getting them is where it starts.

Today, Luke and Leia are doing wonderfully. Their gastrointestinal tracts have healed, they're full of zest for life, and cannot wait to find their furever home and continue to thrive and grow. These 5-6 month old twins are true blue rescues and so grateful. They absolutely love to play with toys and each other! They are still a little hand-shy and skittish around new people, but once they bond to you, they become very affectionate and loving little kitties. If you are looking for the purrfect fun pair for your family, these two may be it. They're good with other cats, fine with kids (respectful! No crazies, please!), and good with dogs.

?
