LOCAL CAT: Holly, Lonely Lady's Story
SHY, LONELY LADY SEEKS FELINE FRIENDSHIP: They call me Holly, because I arrived here during the holiday season, and because I am very pretty, like Holly Golightly. And while Breakfast is a must, it need not be at Tiffany’s! I am actually a fairly low-maintenance girl with simple tastes… all I wish for is a nice companion to help me get over my fears, a therapy cat who is also in need of a friend, the kind who will help me achieve my full potential and forget all about my previous life as a stray cat.

I have been lonelier of late, as my companions in my early days here have all moved on. They were so kind to me, doted on me, bathed my ears and cheeks, snuggled with me, and then, just as I was about to let go of my inhibitions, they left me. The staff at my job tried to pair me with some young ladies, but they were just wild teenagers who liked to party, and I prefer a quieter colleague, one who enjoys naps and cuddling up in a hammock, maybe with a light snack. Though I’m only about 4 years old, I prefer a more mature relationship.

Now my current colleagues are too like-minded, shy like me, and we know not what to do with each other, as we are all very respectful of each other’s boundaries — we sit there and gaze at each other, each afraid to make the first move. And I’m lonely.

My volunteer friends suggested we try this dating app, Meowtch.com, to find that feline companion who needs me just as much as I need him… or her… I’m not picky! And I’m spayed, so I’m not really looking for romance, just comfort and friendship. I already have a tuxedo, and am hoping to find my match in time for prom.

I may be shy, I may be a little sad, but with the right companion, I promise to blossom into an affectionate, content little queen.

I currently live in a small loft, which the humans call a cage, but at least it has a window view, and comfortable furnishings. But I’m ready for more space, a quieter place. I have one volunteer friend who understands how to handle me, with tender, loving care, and she takes me on outings to the playroom, where other volunteers can spend time petting me, feeding me treats, reading poetry to me, and taking countless photos of me. I know I can learn to trust another human, if I have a feline friend to show me the way… but no canines, please. And no young humans, as they might not understand my timid nature.

I am up to date on my vaccinations, have received dewormers and flea treatments, and also tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. There is no adoption fee for me, but if you are interested in me, the staff here would like to speak with you about my needs and best prospects for a good match. You can reach a staff member at 401-647-7200 or clayvillecritters@cox.net. Just tell them Holly sent you!
