LOCAL CAT, Aberdeen

ABERDEEN... aka ABBIE... came to the shelter in mid-July with her five crazy tabby kittens (and with the patience of a saint), and she is now more than ready to leave motherhood behind! She is a beautiful, young, medium-haired cat, very sweet and tender, and very fond of her human friends at the shelter. Quiet, but affectionate -- she appeals to us for pets and kisses by giving us a mildly pleading look, and then giving us her belly to show us she would love some contact. Abbie is also very easy to hold and sit in a lap. She will probably be a little shy in a new home, for a little while, but won't take long to adjust, especially if she gets plenty of companionship. It will be best to start Abbie in a quiet introduction room, one where she can't hide, a place where her new family and any other pets can bond with her one-on-one for just a few days. Once she knows there is nothing to fear in the home, she will be curious about discovering the whole household. She will make a fine companion for people of all ages, including young children, and will be happy to live with other cats. We're not sure how she feels about dogs, but should adjust to living with a gentle dog that is not aggressive towards smaller creatures. <br/><br/>Aberdeen is estimated to be 2 years old, is spayed, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $125. Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only; all others may pay by credit/debit card or money order, payable to "Town of Scituate."
