259 days & counting!<br/><br/>Fifteen month-old Lina only knows shelter life. When CAWL rescued this adorable brown, black, and white tabby just before the Christmas holiday in 2025, she was seven months old and suffering from bronchitis. This smart girl knew we could help her, and she reached her paws through her cage to our manager. When we brought her home to foster her to health, Lina fought courageously. Upon recovery, she learned to play– she never had toys before!<br/><br/>Everything Lina endured endears her to us, although it presents challenges. Lina never had exposure to other cats and kittens in her life, which would have taught her fundamental proper play boundaries (to include biting or scratching/latching with paws). The more we volunteer with her, the more we help her learn to play appropriately.<br/><br/>Why we love Lina:<br/><br/> First of all, she is darn cute. And soft. And she chirps instead of meows.<br/><br/> Friendly, very curious about the world around her, and clearly loves human attention, interaction, affection, and play.<br/><br/> Willing to cuddle up next to you and wants pets. Might let you hold her; might not. <br/><br/> Her high energy keeps us on our toes with finding new ways to engage her playful spirit.<br/><br/> Loves a good laser light and will run laps around her room! <br/><br/> Her spirit is quite innocent: she simply wants a lot of engagement, and she doesn’t want her volunteers to leave her at the end of their shifts.<br/><br/> Her favorite song is Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls, because as Lina knows, they make the rockin’ world go round.<br/><br/>Eventually, we know the right human will find her: a compassionate, patient, experienced cat person who will take the time with Lina to continue our work with her to train her to play nice.<br/><br/>As much as we’d love to tie a big bow on an adoption for Lina before she spends her second Christmas holiday in a shelter, we are committed to taking care of Lina as long as it takes to find her right person.
