Lilo's Story

Lilo, our soft and silky 17-month-old panther, is bonded with her sister, Diamond, and they room together here at Calvert Animal Welfare League (CAWL). “Bonded” means they must stay together on their adoption journey, but if you scroll past this bio, you’ll miss out on the prettiest, sweetest, funniest, cuddliest, and most deserving feline duo to hit Petfinder and social media!

Why we love Lilo:
• Her front paws have SIX TOES!! Lilo has gams for days and paws like little catcher’s mitts. There is no doubt why she boasts the best catwalk strut we’ve ever seen.
• Girlfriend is affectionate to the max. She craves human contact. She wants to be pet, will crawl into your lap, and definitely is coming up to sleep with you at night (per her previous foster mama). You can pick her up and hold her.
• She does not like other cats beside her sister (we can’t all be purrfect, we suppose), and her tail puffs up to the cutest extreme proportions when she sees other cats.
• She wants to follow her human caretakers around the shelter and explore everything. She longs to stretch those legs and run around!

Lilo and Diamond know what it is like to have a loving, safe home, only to lose it due to no fault of their own. They were adopted from us as kittens in summer 2025 and returned this spring when their owner’s employment situation suddenly changed. In spite of all they endured, Lilo and her sister demonstrate tremendous resiliency, including a super friendly and outgoing disposition and a playful, inquisitive nature. These beauty queens patiently await their deserved second chance.

Calvert Animal Welfare League - CAWL's Adoption Policy
THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING AND SAVING A LIFE! We are accepting applications by email and in person at our adoption center. We are only open to the public on Saturdays from 11-3, otherwise by appointment. As much as we like to personally meet all of our applicants prior to filling out an application, we are asking that you give us as much information about you, your family, and other pets so that we can make the best match. We will then set up a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in as well as give us the opportunity to meet you and your family. All of our animals are placed in the best fit home for them, never on a first come first serve basis. Completion of an application does not guarantee approval for that particular animal. We reserve the right to approve or deny any application based on the animal’s needs. Our adoption process includes a home visit. *note: In certain circumstances and in lieu of a home visit, we will ask for specific pictures of your home. You will be contacted if you have been selected to complete the adoption process.
