Lexie's Story

Lexie is the most senior cat we have at the rescue. She came to the rescue in June 2024 with her sister Ella. They had been living with their person their entire loves, and then she had to move into a Senior home and could not take her beloved cats with her. Her granddaughter reached out to the rescue, and although we were extremely full, I wanted to help these girls, because due to their age (10 years old approximately) they would be very difficult to adopt out. Unfortunately, her sister Ella got sick at the end of July and passed away, leaving Lexie alone. Lexie does not enjoy the company of other cats, and her ideal home would be a quiet household with no other pets. Lexie has recently started bonding with me as her 'person' and would enjoy nothing more than laying on my lap everyday allday, and as much as I would love that, it is not feasible, which makes Lexie quite cranky with everyone else. As much as I would love to find her a perfect home, I feel she will be a permanent resident of the rescue due to her age and her dislike of everyone. She is a sweet girl who unfortunately had her life turned upside down, so we will continue to show her love and understanding and she will hopefully start to trust humans more.

The Cat's Sass Rescue's Adoption Policy
We begin by informing possible adopters to head to our website to see the cats that are available for adoption. If any catch tehir eye, they fill out an adoption application, which lets us know what cat or cats they are interested in, and tells us all about their household (is it busy or quiet, do they have young kids,, other cats or dogs, etc). Once we determine they would be a good match (not al cats are a good fit for all households and we want the best fit for our cats), we arrange a meet and greet at our Catty Shack (a barn building renovated into a temporary housing facility for up to 20 cats, but it is not open to the public, it is on private land). If they seem to get along at the meet and greet, we will do a trial adoption, and after 7-10 days we will reach out and chat about how things are going, any concerns they have, or if they are happy. If they are happy and want to adopt, we will finalize the adoption process and they will sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
