Leo and Jerry's Story

Meet Jerry and Leo!

Jerry
Sweet • Cautious • Curious • Very Silly

Jerry is the most observant and curious of the bunch. While his littermates are busy creating chaos, Jerry prefers to sit back, watch, and take it all in. But once he decides the timing is right, he transforms into the silliest kitten around!

Jerry loves heights, so a home with a cat tower would be greatly appreciated. He also enjoys wand toys, springs, and fake mice. After a good round of playtime, there is nothing Jerry loves more than curling up with Leo for a long, cozy nap.

Future Occupation: Stand-Up Comedian
Favorite Saying: “...not that there’s anything wrong with that.”
Favorite Foster Moment: Jerry’s foster family has completely fallen in love with his adorable eyes. Imagine the famous Puss in Boots pleading-eyes scene from Shrek—that is Jerry! It has also been incredibly sweet watching him bond with Leo. Jerry truly looks up to Leo as his big adoptive brother.

Leo
Playful • Affectionate • Leader of the Pack

Where to begin with Leo? Well, Leo is where this long story of strays, fences, sisters, kittens, more kittens, and even more kittens all began!

Leo was the bravest—or, realistically, perhaps the hungriest—first kitten to be welcomed into his foster home. From the very beginning, he has been the leader and the glue holding all the kittens together. Everyone cuddles with Leo. Everyone plays with Leo. And, honestly, everyone falls in love with Leo.

With his beautiful, creamy-orange coat, enormous purrs, and laid-back yet confident personality, Leo is truly one of a kind. He has a way of making everyone feel welcome, and younger Jerry has especially come to look up to him as his big brother.

Future Occupation: Importer/Exporter
Favorite Foster Moment: Everyone is naturally drawn to Leo’s easygoing, confident personality. He is the kitten everyone wants to cuddle, and watching his special bond with Jerry develop has been one of the sweetest parts of their foster journey.

Their Rescue Story
Jerry and Leo came from separate litters rescued about a month apart in the Brooklyn Arts neighborhood. Somehow, these two found each other and bonded over their shared beginnings—and their mutual love of long naps snuggled up together.

Earlier this summer, Leo and Jerry's fosters were blessed with four kittens who had been born in an empty lot across from their home. They had been feeding Leo’s mom for some time, and when the kittens arrived, they reached out to a rescue organization and signed up to foster.

Working with the rescue, they were able to safely catch the kittens, bringing an end to Leo’s brief life as an outdoor kitten.

But while they were trying to catch his mom, another little miracle came along.

Jerry and his littermates became their foster family’s surprise kittens. A look-alike mama cat sent one of her kittens over to the foster family’s seemingly endless buffet of Friskies—and suddenly, they had kitten number five!

That resourceful mama cat then brought three more kittens over, one at a time, and voilà: Georgie, Jerry, Cosmo, and Elaine had found a home.

And life ever since has been one big, funny, silly sitcom.

With one litter bringing all the Seinfeld energy and the other bringing a little West Wing sophistication, friendships, bonds, and alliances formed until everyone became one big, happy family.

And somewhere along the way, Jerry and Leo became step brothers! (but that's an entirely different movie)

These two are happiest when they are together, whether they are playing, exploring, causing a little harmless chaos, or simply curled up side by side for a nap. Their bond is incredibly special, and they would love to find a forever home where they can continue their story together.

Our adoption process:
1) Fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofelines.org/adopt
2) Meet with the cat in their foster home
3) If you and the cat are a match then we will set a take home date 1-7 days after the meeting depending on schedules.

** We are not able to hold cats for a particular family longer than about 7 days, unless the cat is available for pre-adoption which will be noted on their profile. Please wait to apply until you are ready to take a cat home. **

We are a completely foster-based nonprofit rescue run by volunteers. We do this work out of love:
