Leo's Story

Let’s talk about Leo! It’s his time to be adopted.

In early September 2025 I took in Leo and his 4 littermates and their beautiful Mom from a shelter in San Bernardino where they were slated to be euthanized. At the time they were only 2 weeks old and mama has nursed them and raised them to be playful, lovable little kittens. Leo, mama and his siblings are all black DSH cats and absolutely stunning!

Sweet baby Leo has a really special personality. He’s playful with his brother Mozzy, but very vocal when Mozzy plays too hard. He’s a lover - not a fighter.

There’s this sweet, smart gentleness to him. I find him sleeping in sunbeams, under blankets and on top of my bed. Anywhere comfy and cozy. If I’m working on my computer he settles in next to me and snoozes. If I pull him into my lap, he stays there content and sleepy, falling asleep on his back.

He lets me carry him around the house and I find his energy extremely peaceful. Don’t get me wrong, he loves to play just like a kitten, and he loves his mama, but I also think that he’s going to grow up to be a big lazy house cat and I absolutely love that for him.

When I put him in the catio at night for bedtime he cries ... he wants his forever person to snuggle with.

I know Leo will find the perfect fit just for him. Someone cool, calm and collected. Just like him. He ideally would go to a home with another friendly cat to play with.

If you're interested in Leo, please send me an email here: hello@catsofoceanside.org and let me know why!

Leo is located in Downtown Oceanside.

Leo will do best with another friendly cat to live with and he would do great being adopted with his brother Mozzy.

Cats of Oceanside's Adoption Policy
My name is Alison, and I created Cats of Oceanside to help the street cats around my urban, downtown home. In a short time, Cats of Oceanside has grown into a vital community resource. At Cats of Oceanside, I require a thorough application for each cat I adopt. I also personally meet with potential adopters and spend time with them and the cat to ensure a good match. Understanding cats deeply and raising them well is my passion, and it's extremely important to me to know who they go home with and the environment they'll live in. To ensure the best fit, I create a unique application for each animal tailored to their specific needs. I can't wait to match you with your future best friend!

Our Mission
Cats of Oceanside is on a mission to connect the people of our beachside community with the street cats who live here. As our California beach town has dramatically gentrified over the last 10 years, combined with the effects of the pandemic, many lower income families have left their homes - and their cats, behind.
