Lemon's Story

Meet Lemon — a gorgeous patched tabby with endless sass, tiny opinions, and the brainpower of a full-time meal coordinator.

Lemon came into foster care with her four siblings as a bottle baby and was lovingly fed around the clock until she was successfully weaned. Now she spends her days supervising the household, wrestling with her siblings, and making absolutely sure nobody forgets when dinner is supposed to happen.

This smart little girl knows exactly when meal times are and will report to her assigned food position well in advance. In fact, Lemon believes it is her personal responsibility to remind everyone approximately 30 minutes before every meal that food should probably happen soon. She takes this role very seriously.

When she’s not clocking in as the household snack manager, Lemon is busy being playful, funny, and ridiculously lovable. She adores cat springs, catnip mice, and catnip in general. She loves wrestling and snuggling with her siblings, and during the day you can usually find her passed out in a giant kitten cuddle pile.

Lemon is also completely obsessed with throw blankets — truly obsessed. If you can’t find her, there’s a very good chance she has burrowed herself deep inside a blanket somewhere for a cozy nap. At bedtime, she loves sleeping under the covers with her humans and fully believes your bed belongs to her too.

She is being raised in a busy foster home with a 120 lb Great Pyrenees, a 70 lb Lab, and a 70 lb Golden/Pyrenees mix, along with cats ranging from tiny bottle babies to seniors. Lemon is extremely well socialized and comfortable around both large dogs and other cats.

Because Lemon absolutely loves companionship, wrestling, snuggling, and being part of a kitten pile, she would do best in a home with other cats to keep her company and match her playful energy.

Lemon is the perfect mix of cuddly, hilarious, dramatic, and clever — a tiny blanket-loving comedian ready to run your household and your heart.

Lemon is scheduled to be spayed May 29th, but we are now accepting early applications!

Lemon is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but can be transported to the northeast. Her adoption fee is $300.

When Lemon's Adoption Application is received, you will be contacted about transport details.

If interested in meeting Lemon, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $100–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
