Klaus's Story

Klaus is in town!

Fittingly, Klaus arrived at EHS from a municipal animal shelter during the Christmas season. Similar to his namesake, Santa, Klaus is described as having a big, bold personality and is ready to settle down in a place to call home.

ABOUT KLAUS

- At shelter
- Having once lived as a stray on the streets, Klaus is a big-hearted cat who needs to feel safe before showing his softer side.
-He appreciates a slow approach to get to know you better.
- He values his solitude and loves to sit on the top of his cat tower most days observing new people and places from afar.
- While Klaus does not enjoy being touched, he will accept Churu from your finger if offered calmly.
- With a bit of patience, Klaus may allow you to pat his chin, cheeks, and the top of his head with the back scratcher.
- Klaus is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans, so it will take time, patience, and plenty of effort to earn his trust. If he feels unsafe, he will hiss and swat.
- Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways
- Klaus has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.
- A cat with FIV may be overlooked, but with routine vet care and a loving home, cats who have FIV can live a long, healthy life.
- Klaus is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.

KLAUS’ IDEAL HOME

- Klaus prefers to be the only cat in the household.
- Klaus does not require medication but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.
- A skittish cat, like Klaus, will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Klaus settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Klaus with a successful transition to his forever home.

Always nice and sometimes naughty, Klaus is ready to retire his past life and begin anew in his fur-ever home. If you’re ready to give Klaus a soft place to land, apply to adopt him today.

If you have any questions about Klaus or the adoption process, please contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com
