Kitty's Story

16-year-old Kitty is looking for love. Her ideal partner: A homebody with a soft lap or a cozy chair. Good candidates include avid readers or series streamers, WFH types, or backyard bird watchers who spend hours gazing through the window from the comfort of an armchair. You embrace the concept of hygge (even if you can’t pronounce it) and welcome the gentle nuzzle of a cat’s head against your chin. You find it endearing when she stirs from a nap with the slightly accusatory meow of an old cat who doesn’t like being interrupted. Daily exercise is important to you, preferably with a wand toy for a few minutes a day to stay fit and mentally sharp. And you are as patient as a Saint, understanding that Kitty may be fine with her special kidney care pate for 2 days in a row, but not 3. Good heavens! No, today it must be the stew. Don’t worry, she will teach you. Lastly, but essential to the relationship, she must be your one and only, for Kitty disdains the presence of other kitties. To repay you for your kindness, this gentle soul will quietly sink her head into your chest, rest her head in your hand, and adore every minute of being in your presence. Kitty lived her long life with one person and is said to have been friendly with kids and dogs, but not other cats. (Sadly, her person died with no one to take her in.) During her time at the shelter, we have managed her kidney disease, doted on her like she was our own grandmother, and confirmed that Kitty detests other felines. She is in no danger here; we will dote on her as long as needed to find a new home where she can reign. Does Kitty make your heart purr? Visit our Lahaska shelter to experience the zen of Kitty for yourself. She currently shares an office with a lucky staff member, so ask about her at the front desk.
