Kit's Story

Meet Kit, a sleek and handsome black cat with a gentle heart and a story of resilience. At about a year and a half old, Kit is the perfect mix of playful young energy and laid-back cuddle buddy.

Kit originally came to us as part of a TNR project with his siblings. While the rest of his litter found homes quickly, Kit kept getting passed over — and we suspect it's because of his adorably unique googly eyes. But once you meet him, it's impossible not to fall in love. His slightly quirky look just adds to his charm and makes him all the more unforgettable.

Despite being overlooked at first, Kit's story took an incredible turn. Around his first birthday he was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a disease caused by a mutation of the common feline coronavirus. Thanks to modern antiviral treatment, cats like Kit can now recover and go on to live completely normal, happy lives. Kit bravely completed treatment and is now a proud FIP survivor, thriving and ready for his forever home.

Personality-wise, Kit is an absolute sweetheart. He loves attention, enjoys curling up for lap time, and is happiest when he's near his people. He also gets along wonderfully with other cats, making him a great companion in a multi-cat household.

Kit may have been overlooked once, but we think his sweet personality, resilient spirit, and charming googly eyes make him truly one of a kind.

If you're looking for a loving, loyal companion with a little extra character, Kit is ready to steal your heart (and your lap).

Come and meet me @ The Cat House (344 Irving Park Rd, Roselle) Pro Tip: Submit an application beforehand for a seamless adoption process!

Adoption Information

Prior to adoption, every cat in our care is spayed or neutered, microchipped, given age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for parasites, and combo-tested for FIV/FeLV. We make sure each cat is healthy, safe, and ready to thrive in their forever home.

Adoption Fees

Kittens (under 6 months): $150

Adults (over 6 months): $125

Seniors / Special Needs: $75

Please Note:

We cannot hold cats for any reason. Please only apply if you're ready to meet and welcome your new companion within 3 days of applying.

Kittens under 4 months must go to a home with another friendly feline, or be adopted with a buddy. (If a kitten is excluded from this rule, it will be noted in their profile.)

TO ADOPT, ONE MUST Have current photo identification with your current address Be willing and able to spend the time & money needed to care for your cat Carefully read the terms of our Adoption Contract and agree to its terms. Agree that if they cannot keep the cat they have adopted from St. Sophia’s, they must return the cat to us Agree to allow an authorized representative of St. Sophia’s to make an adoption follow-up THE PROCESS Adopting should never be an impulse decision — pets are for life. We respectfully ask that you come fully prepared to take on the care of a cat prior to filling out an application. On average, owning a cat costs $40 a month (food/litter/health), which is $480 annually. Cats (especially kittens) take lots of time, dedication, and love to grow and develop into loving and healthy household pets. Because we at St. Sophia’s pride ourselves in knowing our cats, we want what’s best for them, and to ensure they are going to good homes we conduct reference checks (personal and veterinary) in addition to the basic application.
