Kiara's Story

Meet Kiara!

Kiara is a 6-year-old sweetheart who has been through more than her fair share, but you'd never know it from the amount of love she has to give.

We suspect Kiara was hit by a car before finding her way to us. She arrived with a broken right rear leg and pelvis, as well as a spinal injury that ultimately required her tail to be amputated. Thankfully, her fractures are healing nicely, and she is doing her best to put her difficult past behind her.

Because of her injuries, Kiara may have a permanent limp and will have an increased risk of arthritis as she gets older. Her spinal injury may also have caused some fecal incontinence. She reliably uses her litterbox to defecate, but we have occasionally found small amounts of stool outside the box. Her future family should be prepared for the possibility that this could be an ongoing part of caring for her.

But if you ask Kiara what she thinks about all of that, she'd probably tell you it's nothing compared to having a loving person by her side. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and deserving of a quiet, comfortable home where she can continue to heal and be cherished exactly as she is.

Kiara may have some extra needs, but she has an enormous heart. She's looking for someone who will see past her injuries and give her the safe, loving forever home she's been waiting for.

If you have room in your heart for a special girl with a lot of love to give, Kiara would love to meet you.

Visit our website to see available animals or visit the adoptable animals at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. We have three large dog adoption rooms, “cat alley” and critter space. While visiting the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, a CAS adoption counselor will help you find the pet who is the best match for your family and lifestyle. Once you find your match, a Cheyenne Animal Shelter staff person will begin the adoption process, which often takes as little as an hour. Once you have reviewed all adoption paperwork, you’ll pay the adoption fee. Then, you’re ready to take home your new furry family member.
