Keeler's Story
FOR A FASTER RESPONSE, PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY -COLLEEN 586-438-1239

We have fostered Keeler and his sister Juno since he was two weeks old. His mother was critically ill and not able to care for him and his sister. He was a bottle baby and quickly became connected to humans.

Keeler purrs constantly and wants to be held much more than the other kittens. And if he can't be held, he will be as close as possible. He consistently meets us at the door, and it doesn't matter if he is sleeping or playing with the other kittens; all attention comes to the humans around him. He will make his presence known, but he will always take advantage of the opportunity to play, especially with Juno.

We have fostered at least 100 kittens from Purrinc; he is the only one who has ever wanted to be involved in everything we do. What animal insists on being present when their human is painting a wall? When I was up on a ladder, he curled up right at the bottom and became quite tenacious as he tried to get up the ladder himself! When I stooped down, he would hop up on my knee, sit down, and look at me with indigence and appeared to be saying, "Are you kidding - how dare you move." when I had to stand up. He has ridden in the car with me and perched up on my shoulder like that is where he belonged.

He frequently follows me and is curious about what is happening around him. He has unbelievable eye contact, and as I changed rooms, all I had to do was look at him and say, "Come on." and he would toddle along like a little puppy, and if I were too far ahead of him, he would start sprinting to keep up. A little kitten sprinting is quite humorous.

But the sweetest moment I had with Keeler was how intuitive he was when we had a much smaller kitten (Rhea) who became ill. While waiting for our appointment to take Rhea to the vet, I knew she needed comforting and I was not cutting it. I got Keeler, and he immediately cuddled her. He did not move away from her for hours. He had his paw around her, kept her close, then lay on top of her to keep her warm and allowed her to lie on top of him. Observing that was something I will never forget.

Keeler is adaptable and will thrive in any home environment, but being with Juno would be ideal. I'm confident that whoever gives him a forever home will be delighted with their choice. People often ask why I don't keep any of the kittens. I would love to, but I must make room for the next group in need. I'm certain the perfect family is out there for him, and hopefully Juno.
