KeeKee C10968's Story

*This animal is a part of our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.*

Hi. I'm KeeKee. Retired drama queen. Professional blanket burrito. Part-time introvert. Full-time supervisor of your household operations.

When I first arrived in foster care, I would like the record to show that I was absolutely, positively offended by the entire situation. I spent my days hiding beneath the futon, carefully evaluating whether any of these people could be trusted. Chin scratches were accepted as part of ongoing diplomatic negotiations, but I wasn't making any promises.
Then something unexpected happened. The staff proved reasonably competent, my routine became predictable, and after about a week I decided maybe I wouldn't file formal complaints after all. Now I greet my humans at the door with my signature tiny little "meeps" as if I wasn't actively avoiding them a few days earlier.

Once you're part of my inner circle, I'm actually quite affectionate. Head rubs? Yes, please. Butt pats? Acceptable. Face brushing? Mandatory. I will rub against your legs, your furniture, your belongings, and occasionally your face just to remind you that I exist and deserve admiration. When I'm especially happy, I transform into what my foster mom calls a "roly poly," rolling around on the floor while purring like I've just won the lottery.

Now let's discuss my greatest passion in life: warmth. I am fairly certain I was meant to live in a tropical climate. Blankets? Wonderful. Heated blankets? Magnificent. Being tucked under the covers like a tiny elderly grandma? Perfection. Sometimes at night I'll stop by your bed, politely request entry by staring at you, and then crawl under the blankets for a cozy visit before returning to my regularly scheduled napping.

Speaking of naps, I take them very seriously. As a distinguished older lady, I spend much of my day perfecting the art of sleeping. However, I do occasionally surprise everyone with bursts of youthful energy. I'll launch dramatically from my tunnel, execute a flawless hunting maneuver, and then immediately require a recovery period. Athleticism is exhausting.

I'm also a strong believer in personal boundaries. Mine, specifically. When I want attention, you'll know. When I've had enough attention, you'll also know. At that point I'll retire to my cat tree or my beloved purple blanket throne and resume my supervisory duties from a distance.

Visitors are subject to review and approval. Quiet, respectful guests are generally acceptable. Loud people may find themselves temporarily ignored while I conduct observations from beneath the futon. It's nothing personal-quality control is important.

I've lived with other cats before and can peacefully coexist with feline roommates, provided they understand a few simple rules: respect my space, don't be annoying, and acknowledge that I was here first. A calm kitty who understands boundaries would be ideal, though honestly, I'd also be perfectly happy being the sole ruler of my kingdom.

Despite my permanently crabby-old-lady facial expression, I'm actually a sweet, loving companion underneath it all. I enjoy gentle affection, cozy routines, warm blankets, and people who appreciate an independent woman who knows exactly what she wants.

So if you're looking for a quiet, low-maintenance roommate who will keep you company, keep you humble, and occasionally emerge from a blanket cocoon to demand admiration, I might just be your girl.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a nap scheduled.
