Keah's Story

Keah and her siblings were dumped in a cardboard box at the shelter. They were all starving and dehydrated. They are receiving around the clock care and being seen by a vet. She is still too young to determine her personality.

Keah and her siblings have Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). CH in cats is a non-progressive neurological disorder where the cerebellumthe part of the brain responsible for balance and coordinationis underdeveloped, often due to a pregnant cat contracting the feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) while carrying kittens.Symptoms include a wobbly, uncoordinated gait, head tremors, and poor balance, but CH cats are not infectious, can live happy lives, and do not experience worsening symptoms over time. While there is no cure, proper care includes providing a safe environment, large litter boxes, and traction aids, but importantly, these cats are not in pain and do not have a shortened lifespan.

Keah is scheduled to be altered, tested for feline leukemia/FIV/HW and vaccinated. She is not declawed.

Because Keah is in a foster home, an adoption application is required before an appointment can be set up to meet this amazing feline: https://windmillanimalrescue.com/cat-adoption/

Adoption information and fees can be found on our website: http://www.windmillanimalrescue.com. ADOPTION INFORMATION To adopt an animal you must complete these steps: Fill out the Pre-Adoption Application. Obtain by writing to windmillanimalrescue@yahoo.com. Wait for approval from at least three Board Members. Select and meet your pet before, after, or during the first two steps. Obtain all necessary supplies for your new pet before adoption day. Food and litter are available for purchase at the shelter. Complete the Final Adoption Agreement and pay the necessary adoption fee before leaving the Windmill Animal Rescue with your new forever friend. Because of the shelter circumstances, the cats are indoor/outdoor kitties. It is preferred, but not required, that they spend their lives as indoor, non-declawed cats (some cats arrive already declawed). These pets need a forever home with lots of love and attention.
