Kayo Kitty's Story
We rescued Kayo from a local shelter when she was about 4 months old. She is approximately a year old now. She was marked as feral and was being adopted as an outdoor/ barn cat. Outdoor cats have much shorter life expectancies and live a very hard life with the risk of constant exposure to the elements, traffic, and wildlife. On top of that, cats adopted out as mousers are often not fed properly in an effort to make them hunt for their food. Kayo was so pretty with her very orange eyes, cream colored fur, and round face- we felt that given her age there was a chance we could tame her to be a friendly indoor pet.

It really wasn't hard to tame her at all. We kept her crated in order to always be able to handle her. Within a few weeks she was eagerly looking for attention and coming to the front of her kennel. At this point she is still a little shy but loves to be held and pet. She has a HUGE purr that she starts even before you touch her. She is also a rump raiser and stands the back legs up every time you scratch her back. However, she is also a typical kitten and so she likes to bite fingers and grab hands with her claws. She doesn't really hurt doing so and her intention is just to play.

Unfortunately, before we were able to pull Kayo from the shelter, her ear had been tipped to show that she is feral. They didn't do a loving job of cutting it and a considerable chunk is missing. It makes her more unique and is a constant reminder of how far she has come and what her life might have been reduced to though. She doesn't mind you rubbing the ear and she has no clue that she has been altered at all. She is still beautiful and is a very charming little character. She is also a bit on the smaller size which makes her extra cute!

To learn more please feel free to message us at caninekarmarescue@gmail.com or fill out our application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CKR/Dog

Our adoptions are not conducted on a first come first served basis and we work to find the best home for each dogs individual needs.
