Katsaline's Story

Look out cats and kittens, fierce tortie Katsaline has arrived, and is serving up spicy gurl realness in her office foster home. 11/10 in the looks category, a strong 4.5/10 for purrsonality and that's on a good day. With truly impeccable tortitude to match her impeccable tortie coat, Katsaline's not some docile housecat, she's the house QUEEN. Those in the market for a guard dog need look no further - Rottweilers who?? Katsaline is ready to jump to her owner's defense, taking out intruders at the ankles and sending them limping for the hills. (When it comes to strangers, long pants or tall socks recommended for prolonged exposure to Katsaline - wear shorts at your own risk.)

Aside from needing a slight cattitude adjustment, though, Katsaline is truly a lover and not a fighter - you just have to win your way into her cold, cold heart first. Beware though, once you're her BFF she will never leave your side... literally. We're talking nap-on-your-laptop, cling-to-your-neck, held-like-a-baby, needs-to-be-within-two-feet-of-you-at-all-times level of Velcro kitty. She has zero concept of personal space, and is weirdly obsessed with hugging your neck and licking your face. She now has her very own designated bed on her office foster's desk immediately adjacent to the keyboard, because the alternative is that she sleeps on the keyboard and sends inscrutable emails to everyone in your address book. She will absolutely try her best to smother you with her love (interspersed with some swats and nibbles to keep you on your toes) and she might well succeed.

But enough about her - what about YOU? Let's see if you're the right fit for this very ~special~ little lady...

Got other cats? Katsaline briefly had a kitten roommate, and oscillated between scowling at him from afar, and channeling her inner kitten while playing with him. With proper introductions, she may do well with another feline friend - preferably one that is playful and also tolerant of, well, her whole ~vibe~.
Got dogs? Katsaline hasn't met a dog yet, so we're not too sure how she feels about them. Definitely no boisterous, in-her-face dogs for her, but a calm pup who mostly leaves her to her own devices may be a match!
Got kids? Katsaline probably wouldn't mind some older kids, though we recommend cat-savvy kiddos only... Katsaline wouldn't make the best "starter cat"!

VIDEOS:
Katsaline: https://youtube.com/shorts/jx-cK1oAWjo
Katsaline loved to eat her Churu!!: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1Buj6KFfWas

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
On 2/4 per staff:She has been making some progress and I am so proud of her! She has been politely meowing for attention and even playfully batted me when I walked by her kennel. I gave her some churu and she let me pet her head while she ate it. When I tried to open the door she hissed.

On 2/2 per staff: When i walked up to her kennel i spoke softly saying "hi pretty girl" she slow blinked at me then gave a soft meow. I offered her some churu and she came down off the perch to eat it. She even licked some off my finger!

On 1/31 per staff: She's a spicy tortie who loved to eat her Churu!

On 1/18 per staff: Passed by Katsaline's enclosure while introducing a few volunteers to the space and was greeted with hisses and glow growls. After a few minutes of conversation cageside, she flopped down on her shelf and sprawled on her side. I attempted to get a picture, but after a couple seconds of holding my phone up to the bars, she sprang forward with a swat, tried to keep her balance on the shelf but tilted forward, then resumed swatting at my phone through the bars

On 1/10 per staff: She was napping as we approached and I held out a churu for her. Once she woke up to the smell she originally hissed, put a drop near her feet. She sniffed and licked the treat. She was not keen on interacting but did lick straight from the hand. Once she finished she hissed again and we gave her space.

On 12/31/25 per staff: Increasing gabapentin from 14 mg/kg to 28 mg/kg due to persistent FAS 5/5

On 12/31/25: Katsaline is very combative in her kennel. Staff put a towel over the door, in hopes that it would help her feel more safe, but she will hiss when approached, and she won't hesitate to swat. Her ears are pulled back and her pupils are dilated. She was not interested in churu, and said so with her paws

On 12/27 per staff: Wide eyes, dialated pupils. High signs of stress, sniffed treats hissed when I tried to get close.

On 12/24/25 per staff: TTA, cat had tense body, dilated pupils, growling, hissing, and swatting/lunging, starting on meds and will try again at a later date
