Kate's Story

Kate is about 1 year old and came to us from an overcrowded home. She has a tiny black heart sketched onto her nose, and was the first thing we noticed about her.

Our Kate is a little acrobat, and she loves to climb to the top of her sisal post to get the best view of the birds outside. She is always ready to play and looks forward to visitors bringing wand toys into the cattery. Kate stands on her back feet like a meerkat as she plays, and it makes our volunteers smile.

Every afternoon, Kate snuggles with one of her kitty roommates as she waits for her person to walk in the door. She is very fond of other cats and cat-friendly dogs, and would do best with an experienced owner who can give her all the time she needs to open up.

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a cat.

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. This includes spay/neuter if five months or older, age-appropriate vaccines, FIV/FeLV testing, deworming, and flea/tick prevention. If they are too young to be fixed, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
