Justice's Story

Hi I'm Justice (ACCT-A-248454), a 10-year-old spayed female Domestic Shorthair who came to ACCT on 04/28/2026, and if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm a gentle little shadow who just wants to be near my people. My family says I have the softest, quietest meow, and that I'll politely place my paw on your leg when I think it's time for a tasty canned food treat.

I spent the last 10 years in a home where I was deeply loved, but when my person had to move somewhere with dogs that aren't cat-friendly, we sadly had to say goodbye. Even though this big change has been stressful for me, I'm still showing everyone what a sweet and affectionate companion I am. I enjoy curling up beside you when you relax, hopping into your chair when you call me over, and keeping you company when you're not feeling well.

I'm a medium-energy girl who enjoys the simple things in life: cozy naps, head scratches, brushing sessions, mouse toys, cardboard boxes, and snuggling close to my favorite humans. I'm friendly with new people and love welcoming guests, though when things get loud, I appreciate having a quiet safe space to retreat to.

The shelter can feel overwhelming for a senior lady like me, but staff have noted that I enjoy gentle pets and attention. I'm ready to trade my shelter kennel for a soft bed, a sunny window, and someone to love for the rest of my golden years.

BEHAVIORAL:

Per foster 6/16 "Overall, she's doing very well! She warmed up very quickly to myself and my roommate, and has been welcoming to all humans she's met so far. She loves attention and frequently rolls over for belly rubs. She's also a huge fan of catnip, her Yeeow banana is her prized possession. Although she spends most of the day napping and relaxing, she does still get the zoomies and is very playful considering her age! She's young at heart and truly is such a love bug, she sleeps right up against me every night and sits on my lap while I work from home. We are still working on slowly introducing her to our resident 4 y.o. female tabby, but so far she is not a fan of her and has hissed/growled during their few encounters. At this point, I think she would do best as the solo cat in her forever home."

Per staff on 5/25:
"I went to say hello to Justice and she was lying down in the back of her kennel with airplane ears. Her breathing rate increased as I got closer to pet her with the fake hand. However, she allowed all pets, and even leaned into the chin scritches. I then used my actual hand and she did the same, even soliciting more pets when I would periodically stop. She even rolled partially onto her side and leaned her head into my hands during pets. She seems like a very nervous but scared kitty who is having trouble adjusting to the environment, but appreciates affection nonetheless."

Per staff on 5/2:

"Removed from transport as she would not allow me to pick up and would hiss. she was okay with petting"

Per staff on 4/29:

"Pet Justice this morning. Tolerated pets on her head and down her back."

MEDICAL:

Per exam on 5/10:

"Mentation: BAR

Body Condition Score (BCS): 8/9

Muscle Condition Score (MCS): 3/3

- Mild dental calculus, no apparent oral masses or foreign bodies

- Overconditioned. Ambulatory x4, no lameness. Brief orthopedic exam performed.

Assessment

- Overweight"

On 5/9, it was noted that Justice has a heart murmur.

Per her intake exam on 4/28, Justice is bright, alert, responsive and friendly. She is altered, and her ears are a little waxy.

VIDEOS:

Justice: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/c40kcKozjqQ

Justice loves pets: https://youtube.com/shorts/rwd5Ml6D0i8?feature=share

ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
