JUJU's Story

JUJU has gone through a lot in her life. She has had a stable home with someone who loved her for all of her eight years, but things started changing in her home and with her person. Her person was elderly and became confused. She was no longer able to take care of themself, let alone a cat. And although this cat is barely a senior herself, and her owner had all
four of her feet DECLAWED, no one else wanted this cat. Fortunately, the family brought JUJU to the shelter instead of leaving her out to fend for herself, which happens all too often. even when a cat has been declawed, unable to hunt, or defend itself.

JUJU was very upset when she was brought in. Her whole world was gone, she was given medications and shots, then put into a kennel, and although the kennels are covered and she couldn't see them, she knew there were other cats around her. So, she was aggressive when she first arrived, and who could blame her. But she has calmed down and now wants pets and attention from the volunteers.

We do not know how she will be with dogs, but she is not happy being in the room with so many other cats. She retreats into the kennel, or she swats at them if they crowd her. She does, however, enjoy attention and if you stop petting her before she's ready, she will sit up on her haunches, put out her front paws and beg, like a small dog. A trick JUJU must have learned from her mom.

JUJU does not like chaos, so children are also probably not a good fit. She is a kitty who lived with a senior citizen her entire life, so it is pretty safe to say she would be most comfortable in an older home, as an only pet, with someone who just wants to share the golden years with her, peacefully, perhaps in a comfy chair in a sunspot.

DOB-02/2018 Entered Shelter-022026

If you would like to adopt JUJU, please visit the shelter during Adoption Hours, Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am to 1:00pm, or call 231-773-3030 for an appointment.
