Jinx's Story

Looking for a companion who's equal parts charming, low-maintenance and quietly affectionate? Meet Jinx, a handsome three year old black cat with striking green eyes and a heart ready to find his forever home. He came to ARF at the start of April from an overcrowded shelter.

Jinx is at that perfect age. He's past the whirlwind kitten phase, but still full of life and curiosity. At three years old, he offers the best of both worlds. He's playful without being overwhelming and he's already developed his personality, so what you see is what you get. Cats his age tend to settle into routines easily, making them wonderful companions for a variety of households.

With his sleek black coat and luminous green eyes, Jinx is undeniably stunning. Yet black cats like him are often overlooked in shelters, simply because of their coloring. It's an unfortunate reality that black cats and dogs statistically wait longer for adoption despite being just as loving, loyal and wonderful as any other pet.

But across many cultures, black cats are actually seen as symbols of good luck and prosperity:
* In Japanese folklore, black cats are believed to bring good fortune and attract positive relationships.
* In parts of British and Irish tradition, a black cat crossing your path is considered a sign of upcoming luck and happiness.
* In Scottish lore, a strange black cat arriving at your home is said to signal prosperity on the way.
* Sailors once kept black cats on ships, believing they would ensure safe travels.

Jinx may not come with a pot of gold, but he does bring something even better. He is a steady, calming presence and the potential for a deep, rewarding bond. If you're ready to give a deserving cat the loving home he deserves, Jinx is waiting to meet you. He just might be the luckiest addition you ever make.

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
