Jinx's Story

Jinx: Distinguished Gentleman Seeking a Cozy Lap and a Well-Appointed Retirement

Hello, I'm Jinx — a handsome black gentleman approximately 12 - 14 years young. My dating profile would read: Retired adventurer seeking daily snuggles, gourmet pâté, and someone who appreciates a charming crooked smile.

My story began when I was living as a stray and found refuge with a kind elderly couple during a particularly cold winter. They loved me for two years, but a change in their circumstances eventually brought me into rescue. I've been embracing the comforts of foster life ever since.

And by comforts, I mean ALL the comforts.

I maintain a carefully curated collection of plush beds and rotate among them according to my mood. I enjoy gourmet dining, leisurely walks to my food bowl, and curling up as the little spoon beside my favorite person. If cuddling isn't currently available, I'm equally happy stretching out on the pillow next to you like the dignified gentleman I am.

Although I appreciate a quality nap, retirement has not diminished my playful side. Bring out a feather wand or crinkly toy, and I may surprise you with an enthusiastic pounce! Age is just a number - proper nap scheduling is what really matters.

I've lived with children ages 5 and 9 and have handled tea parties and bedtime stories (and a five-year-old's occasionally enthusiastic interpretation of personal space) with remarkable grace. Thanks to nightly family reading sessions, I'm also about 80% of the way through Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. I may be one of the more well-read cats available for adoption.

I have diabetes and arthritis, so I need an adopter who can maintain my established medical routine. I receive insulin injections twice daily, take gabapentin each day, and receive a monthly arthritis injection to keep me comfortable. The good news is that I'm wonderfully cooperative about my care—I take my treatments like a champ. I've also had extensive dental work to remove painful teeth, leaving me healthier and occasionally sporting an endearing droopy grin.

I am neutered, vaccinated, house-trained, and not declawed. Dogs are an unknown adventure for me. Based on my foster experience, I would be happiest as the only cat in the home, where I can reign peacefully as king of the castle and receive the attention befitting my station.

My ideal family will be frequently home, comfortable managing my medical needs, and ready to provide affection, soft sleeping options, and companionship throughout my golden years. In return, I'll provide gentleness, loyalty, excellent cuddling skills, and the quiet joy of loving a senior cat who truly appreciates being safe.

Every distinguished gentleman deserves a happily-ever-after. Could mine be with you?

Personality traits: Affectionate, gentle, loyal, playful, dignified, cuddly, patient, child-friendly, accomplished napper, literary enthusiast

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. Fitchburg Friends of Felines, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are required to have a solid character reference, vet reference, and a site visit which can be conducted virtually. Due to MA regulations, we cannot intake pets from out of state. We offer a foster to adopt program to guarantee the intended kitty is a good fit for your family. We also require that all adopters agree to return the kitty should the adopter no longer be able to care for him or her in the future, or an agreed to person is identified to continue care for this kitty. We are not a brick and mortar; all available cats are kept in foster homes. Therefore, we would need time to schedule a visit to meet a kitty. We are happy to travel to match the perfect kitty for your family. Our adoption fees are normally $250 per cat, $350 for specialty breeds or exotics, and $50 less per kitty if interested in multiples. For specific questions, or for an adoption application, please feel free to reach out to us directly: fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com or call our hotline: 978-222-3170
