Jay's Story

Hey there, I'm Jay. I like to consider myself something of a gentleman in the way that I like to take things slow and steady with the new friends I meet. I mean hey, YOU don't kiss on the first date, do you? If you buy me dinner, though (or maybe just give me some treats), I'll be your best friend in no time. The way to my heart really is through my stomach! I'm pretty easy to please, I'd say. A cozy bed here, a snack or two there, and even some gentle head scratches will really get me purring. Once you have me, I am yours for life! Come meet me at APF and see if the Jay Way of Life (lots of naps and daily snack time) meshes well with yours!

Our dedicated staff and volunteers will help you find the perfect match. Browse the animals online first, or just stop in during our shelter hours. Your first step to adopting a pet is to complete an adoption questionnaire available at the shelter. A FEW THINGS TO KNOW: You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt without a parent or guardian. Bring a form of identification with current address, such as a driver’s license. If renting property or living with a parent, you will be asked to provide proof that pets are allowed. We will contact the homeowner for verification. Once a staff member has reviewed your adopter questionnaire, you can spend some time with the animals. Pets are an important part of the family, so if at all possible, all family members should be part of the process. If you are looking to add an additional dog, we ask you to bring your dog to the shelter to meet the new canine companion. This may requ
