James Van Der Purr's Story

Meet James — a charming neighborhood socialite with a big personality and an even bigger heart.

James first appeared at my door last summer, announcing himself with a bold meow and quickly becoming a familiar face around the neighborhood. He’s truly a people-lover. In fact, whenever I’d come home from work, he somehow recognized the sound of my car and would come running from a couple of blocks away just to greet me.

Before long, James began coming inside to relax, explore, and make himself comfortable on the sofa. It didn’t take long to see what a wonderful companion he is. James has a bubbly, friendly personality without being overly rowdy. He enjoys being near his people, lounging nearby, and of course sharing the occasional cuddle. He’s the kind of cat who simply wants good company and a cozy place to belong.

While in foster care, James hasn’t been introduced to other cats, so it’s unclear how he would do with feline siblings. Given his mellow temperament and easygoing nature, it’s possible he could learn to coexist with other pets with proper introductions and a little patience.

James is not bonded to another animal and currently has no known medical needs. He’s simply looking for a loving home where he can continue being the sweet, loyal companion he already is.

DOB: August 2, 2024

Ready to make James a part of your family forever? Fishtails Animal Rescue strives to provide you with a healthy pet. However, the stress of changing environments can lower an animal’s immunity to fight disease and the pet could harbor an infection without displaying symptoms. We cannot guarantee the health of any animal. Any pet adopted out by Fishtails Animal Rescue will be up-to-date on vaccines (unless medically contraindicated), microchipped, spayed/neutered (if age appropriate*), and given a dose of flea/heartworm preventative. The microchip must be registered by the adopter to their new information. *If the animal is not spayed/neutered at time of adoption, the adopter will do so within 2 months after the animal reaches 6 months of age. In addition, if pet is under 16 weeks at the time of adoption, adopter is responsible for boosters for vaccines. Fishtails Animal Rescues is located in Philadelphia, PA and accepts applications within the tri-state area. The first step in our adoption process is to complete the adoption application found on our website. Applications are reviewed within 72 hours of submissions.
