James's Story

Meet James – Your Future Furry Best Friend

James is a strikingly handsome 5-year-old tuxedo cat with a heart as big as his personality. He came into our rescue as a tiny kitten in 2020, after being born to a feral mom in a rough colony. James had a tough start, and it took time, care, and patience to nurse him back to health. Because of his early struggles, he wasn’t ready for adoption until he was 6 months old. By then, he was a bit older and bigger than the typical kittens—and sadly, often overlooked.

James is a quiet soul who may take a little time to open up—but once he trusts you, you’ll discover the affectionate, playful cat hiding behind those golden eyes. He enjoys gentle cuddles (on his own terms, of course), loves rolling over for scratches, and will happily chat with you in soft meows when he wants attention. While he’s not a huge fan of being picked up, he absolutely adores playtime—especially with feather toys—and has even mastered the art of playing fetch!

His love language? Snacks. Lots of them. Food is definitely the way to his heart.

James is also comfortable in a harness, making him a great candidate for safe outdoor exploration or leash walks if you’re into that kind of adventure.

He currently lives in a foster home with both cats and dogs. He’s indifferent to other cats and might even be coaxed into playtime with a fellow feline friend. Dogs, on the other hand, aren’t his cup of tea—he prefers to keep his distance.

What James really needs is a calm, patient home where he can feel safe and loved as he adjusts at his own pace. If you’re someone who appreciates the quiet companionship of a loyal cat who will bond deeply once he’s ready—James could be your perfect match.

If this beautiful boy has tugged at your heartstrings, don’t wait—reach out to us at heartandhomerescueorg@gmail.com. James has been waiting long enough. Let’s help him find the forever family he deserves.

Heart and Home Animal Rescue Foundation's Adoption Policy
*Please note that at the present time, we do not adopt our dogs out of state. Our adoption process is as follows: 1) Adoption application. The questionnaire is designed to help HHARF and yourself determine compatibility with the dog you are interested in and if they are the right one for you and your household. The goal is not to be invasive but to find the best possible match for each dog and their future family. All interested adopters are required to complete this form for adoption consideration. Submission of the application is not a guarantee you will be able to adopt the dog you are interested in. If we determine your application is a fit for the dog you applied for, we move forward to the next step. 2) Meet & Greet. Meeting the dog you are interested in is important to test compatibility with members of the family they will be living with. Therefore, we suggest that all family members in the household come to the meet and greet if possible. We can schedule a meet and greet with a location and time agreed upon by HHARF and the adopting family. If all goes well and both HHARF and the adopting family agree to move forward, we move on to next step. 3) Home Check. A home check is necessary to ensure the dog will be in a safe home environment. In the interior, we check to make sure there are no hazards that might cause harm. For the exterior, we look to make sure there are no avenues of escape. We can make suggestions based on the dog you are applying for. A home check can be scheduled with a date and time agreed upon by HHARF and the adopting family. 4) Adoption contract. If all goes well and both HHARF and the adopting family agree to move forward an adoption contract is completed and a tax-deductible adoption donation will be collected. 5) Once the contract is complete, you and your new family member can start your new journey together. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions you may have. Heart and Home Animal Rescue Foundation (951) 708-0626 Heartandhomerescueorg@gmail.com We are also on Facebook and Instagram
