Ivy's Story

Please read through the entire posting and requirements before applying via our questionnaire at alleycatproject.org/adopt
Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.

Meet Ivy, a shy, sweet, and curious kitten! She is approximately five months old.

This petite tabby cat with green eyes and a spotted belly loves to find a high space to hang out, cautiously play with a wand toy, and play with her brother and sister. She also loves to sit by the window and see what’s happening in the world outside.

Ivy is one of three kittens found outside without a mother, and they are still getting used to life indoors. She can be very shy and will find a hiding spot (a “cat cave” is ideal) if she gets uncomfortable, but in general her curiosity and love of pets has led her to be more brave and venture outside of the “cat room”. She loves to be pet, and if you approach her slowly, she’ll reward you with a purr. She’ll also venture to get closer to you when a treat is involved. She loves treats! I think with time she’ll likely want to be a lap kitty. She has lots of kitten energy, so play sessions with balls and wand toys are essential and a great way to build her trust.

She’ll follow you around the house from a safe distance and is interested in what you’re doing. She is a good eater and has great litter box habits. If you work from home, she’s also happy to hang out on your desk and help you “work”.

She has no experience with children; they will need to be patient and respectful due to Ivy’s cautious nature.

Sweet Ivy needs a buddy and could be a new friend for an already established resident cat who may help her learn that humans are not scary.

What Ivy is looking for in a home:

- She is new to indoor life with humans, so she needs a kind and patient guide to help her continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers make her nervous.
- She’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust.
- She needs an already established resident feline friend close to her age to play with and model good cat manners.
- She has lots of kitten energy and will benefit from plenty of active play time.
- She feels at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- She needs to live indoors only.
- She has no known history with dogs.
- She has no known history with children

All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Consistent with Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV) guidelines, ACP follows current shelter medicine practices and does not routinely test every healthy, low-risk cat for FIV and FeLV.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:

- $200 per cat or kitten
- $350 for pair of cats or kittens
- $50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
- Adjustable fee upon request for adopters who are low income, and seniors, disabled, or others with fixed incomes.
- Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts

Thank you for your interest in adopting Ivy! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt him by filling out this questionnaire: alleycatproject.org/adopt

Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder, as it will not replace the questionnaire and we will not respond.
